A home computer is probably what most people think of when they hear the term “PC.” These are the kinds of computers that a typical user would have at home for email, word processing, web surfing, social networking etc.
In the office/home office, they’d be used for those tasks as well as basic business applications…say, accounting packages, spreadsheets, tax preparation, etc. In an office/business setting, they may need to participate in a network, connected to servers and other devices such as multiple printers, scanners, POS systems, etc.
The term “workstation” gets thrown around a lot, and can mean different things to different people. To some, it’s simply a more powerful than average PC for a power user…in other cases, it’s a machine made specifically to excel at a given task – like CAD/CAM, photo/video editing and production, music production, etc. A workstation may not look any different from the outside…but chances are there’s more to that tower than meets the eye.
