What are the characteristics of home, office, and home office PCs?

These general types of computers are probably what most people think of when they hear the term "PC."  These are the kinds of computers that a typical user would have at home for email, word processing, web surfing, etc.  In the office/home office, they'd be used for those tasks as well as basic business applications...say, accounting packages, spreadsheets, tax preparation, etc.  Often these computers are less expensive than others, and don't necessarily need the latest-and-greatest components in order to do their jobs well.  Users of these types of systems are concerned with reliability, good performance for their typical tasks, low sound levels and typically understated looks...nothing flashy, just a nice, tasteful machine that quietly does what is asked of it.
